Fear —
not running-from-bear
but running-from-life
Courage —
not getting-up-the-nerve
but getting-up-every-day
terri guillemets
composed by yours truly
Brotherlove
There’s no other love like the love for a brother. There’s no other love like the love from a brother.
Seed in the wind
flowers are fragrant metaphors —
happy colors sing “carpe diem!”
wilting whispers “memento mori.”
A January day that lives forever
In my mind —
I’ve tried a million
times to go back
to that day —
tried to change
my choices
begged a do-over
from the universe
I’ve crippled myself with
guilt
sorrow
thrashing the quicksand
sinking in
layers of grief
fighting a sticky web
trapped in
regret-regret-regret
I don’t even care about
my own
broken heart
I’m sorry
I broke yours
Nerve us!
Courage is tiny pieces of fear all glued together.
Ever-changing
Why do I love clouds? You can’t save a cloud as you can save a leaf or a flower or a rock — clouds are now! Clouds are the carpe diem of nature.
Winter sparks
snowflakes fall from the sky
in peppermint perfection —
i kiss you with quivering lips
but cold is not the reason —
you set my winter heart on fire
and keep me warm all season
Chasing the past
Chasing the past, I stumbled into the future.
P.S. Thanks to Rebecca for letting me know that this quote was used in the television show Being Erica. In the episode “Plenty of Fish,”
Refuge
Tea time — a brief recess from dodging life’s blowdarts.
Dissent
I do love my friends who wouldn’t dare judge me — but we all need to be judged, sometimes.
Mind full
Walking is good for solving problems — it’s like the feet are little psychiatrists.
Healing stronger
Scars tell us more about the future than the past, about how we can live strong despite any pain we’ve been through.
Breaking & entering
If you treat the unknown as a minefield and never enter, you may avoid getting blasted but won’t ever get to run along with the butterflies.
