tiny icy hail
falls slantwise through streaming sun
melting to rainbow
winter
Icy gaze
owls fierce in summer
are fiercer yet in winter —
it’s mating season
Segue
Joyfully spring from the last breaths of summer and gracefully fall
Feuille morte
dried crackling leaves
though dead
are never quite still
Chilly bedtime thoughts
Winter is the slow-down
Winter is the search for self
Winter gives the silence we need to listen
Winter goes gray so we can see our own colors
Cozy
hiding in my winter cocoon
not coming out again until June
Tilted
Earth tilts toward Winter
my heart goes tilty too
the summer-fever cools
to a more reflective hue
Seamless
the vibrant green-yellow-pink blossom-life of spring
the watery-blue radiant sunshine-breath of summer
the metallic-earth-toned glowing-decay of autumn
the grey-white holly-festive slow-motion of winter
The fall of October
October’s autumn
casts a gentle light
and a calm serenity
before the stark
barrenness of winter
is born to November
Windy winter night
snuggled into a warm cozy bed
weather wakes this sleepyhead
with a blustery December night
white clouds reflecting city light
cold drops fall fast and furious
a clattering house, mysterious
midwinter storms in and wails
frigid rain and whipping gales
December windows open
cold winter night wind
warms my soul but chills my bones
spring sleeps in the earth
Winter falling
cold gray rainy day
watching winter’s last leaves fall
from my cozy bed
Ember
days in winter
fall so short —
as the sun sets
loneliness rises
